Creating Functional and Meaningful Opportunities

Many students at Heartspring are working on expressive and social communication. They are also working on a variety of activities of daily living and functional skills such as washing hands, brushing teeth and making a snack. Therapists at the Heartspring School are always looking for innovative ways to help students generalize skills taught in the classroom and group home by developing functional activities that are meaningful and fun.

Supporting school therapies with your donation helps to purchase a variety of items for our different groups, activities and students. Some of the items might be used for:

  • Coffee Cart
  • Snack Cart
  • Cooking Group
  • Language Group
  • Fine motor kits
  • Handwriting Group
  • Pet treats (Buddy Bites)
  • Adaptive Equipment

Pet Treats

Our pet treats project is brand new. This pilot project includes a variety of opportunities for our students to practice functional skills in areas such as speech therapy, occupational therapy and academics, as well as giving them an opportunity to interact with our supportive community.

The pet treat project is off and running because of a generous donation from the ladies of Epsilon Sigma Alpha philanthropic sorority.

Our students will perform every step of the pet treat process, from taking the orders, to baking, packaging and delivering.

Keep your eyes open for Buddy Bites at Scooters Coffeehouse, the Kansas Humane Society and Sundog Pet Photography.
